Junkers JU 87 Stuka
This is a print of a pencil drawing by English artist, Dave Alford… It is an accurate and detailed representation of this terrifying machine.
Probably one of the most frightening sights of the twentieth century… Like a bird of prey locked onto its target… This pencil drawing shows the Junkers JU 87 Stuka in a terror dive… With imagination, it is almost possible to feel the panic of its target…
This aircraft had an automatic dive control that would pull it out of its dive at a preset altitude when engaged by the pilot… The pilot had at his disposal, two forward-firing Rheinmetell-Borsig 7.92mm MG 17 machine guns, which had 1000 rounds of ammunition each! As can be seen, the Stuka carried either a single 500kg or 250kg bomb on a cradle under the fuselage; a very deadly accurate pay-load!
